Here we have compiled a list of the world's most infamous serial killers, ranked by kill count. Why would we do that? To creep you out of course, and possibly keep your head on a swivel just in case You know that guy that eats the same thing everyday and eats alone at his cubicle during his lunch break? You might want to keep an eye on him. Or the guy that lives down the hall from your apartment that acts extra suspicious? Him too, keep an eye on him.

Let this list be your reference for creepy behavior or just a list to creep your friends and family out with. #1 will absolutely STUN you! We start off with John Wayne Gacy.

Most people find clowns creepy already but once you find out the truth about this serial killer you may never want a clown at your kid's birthday party ever again. John became known as the 'Killer Clown,' since he used to dress up as a clown for charity events and children's parties.

Gacy became infamous for dragging or luring teenage boys to his Norwood Park Township home in Cook County, Illinois and murdering them by asphyxiation or strangulation with a tourniquet. He committed the majority of his murders this way except for the first who was killed by being stabbed to death. Some of his victims he would sexually assault and rape if given the opportunity. This deranged man was able to kill 33 young men over the span of 6 years, from 1972-1978. Gacy buried a total of 26 bodies in a crawl space in his home. Four victims were found in the Des Plaines River and three others were found buried elsewhere on his property. After being convicted of 33 murders he spent 14 years on death row and was eventually executed on May 10, 1994.

We wonder if he was the inspiration to Stephen King's IT? One of America's most haunting serial killers hails from Burlington, Vermont, born Theodore Robert Cowell but we all know him as Ted Bundy. As the story goes Ted was a charismatic, smooth talking lady's man who is responsible for the murders of over 30 women over several states. Bundy would win the trust over his victims by faking injury, implying he was disabled, or acting as an authority figure where he would lure his victims into secluded places, assault then murder them. He took it an extra step Bundy would revisit the crime scene and perform sexual acts with the corpses until they were either too decomposed to go any further or they were destroyed by the wildlife in the surrounding area.

For some victims he would break into their homes and just pummel them to death while in their sleep. Ted also decapitated at least 12 of his victims and would take some of the heads back to his home as trophies. In 1975 Ted was arrested in Utah for attempting to kidnap and assault a woman, he devised two escapes, as he became a suspect in multiple murders. While being an escapee he was able to commit three more murders until he was captured in Florida in 1978. While incarcerated he confessed to 30 homicides, Ted received three death sentences in two separate trials.

There is no actual official death toll due to the hands of Ted and could possibly be a lot more than the general public has knowledge of. On January 24, 1989 Ted Bundy was executed via the electric chair at Raiford Prison in Starke, Florida. Good riddance to the sick b.tard. The 18th spot on the list goes to the Moroccan born, Hadj Mohammed Mesfewi. Born in the 1800s this story is a little more historic than some of the others and the time span of Mesfewi's killing spree is unknown.

Hadj was a known cobbler and public letter writer for his town. With two very well respected trades of that era, Hadj was also responsible for the murders of 36 women. Unlike the first two on this list Mesfewi had an accomplice, a 70 year old woman Rahali, also known as Annah.

They together would lure young women in by offering them a friendly dinner date where a narcotic would be introduced causing the victims to fall asleep. While in their sleep Hadj would murder the women via a dagger, strip them of their valuables and bury them.

26 of his victims were found buried underneath his shoemaking shop, the other 10 found buried on his property. Originally Mesfewi was to be crucified on May 2, 1906 but the officials opposed and chose to subject him to daily whippings and harsh imprisonment.

Nearly a month later, Hadj died on June 13th. What was this guy thinking?

He had two valuable trades he could live off of…but chose to hack women to death over a few funky shillings. This serial killer hails from the Soviet Union of past, Mr. Gennady Mikhasevich. Gennady was recognized as a family man, had two children, was considered a hard-worker, and was an active member of the communist party at the time. After returning from his stint in the army Gennady's killing spree began when his then girlfriend had left him and ran off to marry some other guy. After preparing to hang himself, Mikhasevich had met a woman on the road, venting all of his anger he killed the woman on May 14, 1971 making her his first victim. Later that same year in October he murdered another woman.

The majority of his killings were done via strangulation and some the killings even accompanied by rape, Gennady never carried weapons but would use a cord of rye at times. In 1976 Gennady married and the killings continued, at times he would strip the women of their valuables and gift them to his wife. In 1985 Gennady murdered 12 girls in just that year, making it his most 'accomplished' year as a serial killer. As the investigations grew around town, Gennady made the mistake of sending an anonymous letter to the local newspaper encouraging people to kill communists and lewd women after leaving a similar letter next to his newest victim, authorities compared 556,000 residents of Oblast handwriting to that of the letter. Finding striking resemblances in Gennady's handwriting to the anonymous letter, Gennady confessed and was sentenced to death.

Unfortunately the police precinct were so incompetent they had convicted 14 other people before catching the killer, some even sentenced to death. Another member of the sick society of our planet is the Russia born, Serhiy Tkach.

Serhiy was a former police investigator who spiralled out of control when he began murdering girls and women over a span of two decades. The murder victims were from ages 8 to 18. This maniac would also perform sexual acts with his victims after killing them. All of his murders were committed via suffocation of some sort. The reason for this necrophiliacs murders are unclear which makes his actions all the more disturbing. From 1980 to 2005 Serhiy slayed a total of 36 documented victims but according to him he reached a total of 100. After being caught for his murders he begged the court for the death penalty but after a one year long trial, the authorities gave him life in prison.

This wasn't before locking up 9 other innocent individuals in which one committed suicide and another was not released until 2012. What a sick f.

You would think a guy named Moses could do no wrong, right? Known as 'South Africa's Ted Bundy' we could understand after the given details. From 1994 to 1995 Moses Sithole killed 38 women in what is known as the 'ABC murders.'

This due to the geographic location of the murders starting in Atteridgeville, continuing in Boksburg and finishing in Cleveland, a suburb of Johannesburg, South Aftrica. Moses would lure in unemployed women by posing as businessman with job opportunities. At the time of the murders he was managing an organization called 'Youth Against Human Abuse,' coincidence eh? He would interview his victims, lure them to a remote field, beat, rape, and murder his victims, usually via strangulation with the victim's own underwear. It doesn't stop there, he would write the word 'bitch' on the victim's body before dumping it somewhere. In August of 1995 Sithole was seen out with one of victims and a nationwide manhunt ensued.

Eventually Sithole was cornered in Johannesburg were he was shot by authorities and rushed to the hospital only to find out he was HIV positive. Sithole claims he was responsible for 76 murders but received 50 years imprisonment each for a total of 38 victims that came out to be an effective sentence of 2,410 years in prison. Aaaand he deserves it. This one hails from the beautiful nation of Brazil and goes by the name Thiago Gomes da Rocha, a former security guard. Thiago's incentive to murder derived from being sexually abused by his neighbor at the age of 11. Thiago's method of murder was kind of strange, he would approach his victims while riding a motorcycle, yell 'robbery' and then shoot his victims in cold blood. The thing is he would never actually take anything from his victims and would mostly target, women, the homeless, and homosexuals.

16 out of the 39 victims were women and his youngest victim was a 14 year old girl in which he killed in January of 2014. This all took place in just a short span of 3 years, from 2011-2014. Suspicions rose when Thiago was caught stealing a license plate off a motorcycle at a market in Goiania in January 2014. Later that year in October, Thiago was apprehended. His motorbike, stolen plates, and.38 revolver were recovered from his home in which he shared with his mother. On October 16th of 2014, Thiago attempted suicide by slitting his wrist with a broken light bulb shard.

He has since recovered, and is currently awaiting trial. This next killer comes from Indonesia and is a cattle-breeder turned lady killer by the name of Ahmad Suradji.

After being caught authorities he admitted this to be the reason for his killing spree: the ghost of his father came to him in a dream and told him to kill 70 women and drink their saliva so that he would be granted powers and could become a mystic healer seriously. He also held the title of a sorcerer and women would approach him for financial guidance and beauty magic. He then would make the women his victims by burying them waist deep and strangling them with a cable as a part of a ritual to enable his 'powers.' Ahmad buried his victims in a sugar plantation close to his home with all the victims heads facing his residence.

In a little over 11 years Ahmad killed 42 women from 1986-1997. He and his three wives were arrested, his wives were accomplices and helped store and rid of some the bodies. The trial began in December of 1997 and in April of 1998, Ahmad was found guilty and sentenced to death by firing squad. On July 10, 2008 he was executed. What a weirdo. Our next subject is from, tongue twisting, Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County, Liaoning, China and to this day is one of China's most notorious serial killing rapist.

Wang Quiang was born in January of 1975 and lived in a small village with his abusive father who was a gambling and alcohol addict. Wang's frustrations grew to a boiling point when his father denied him a chance to get a scholar education. Over a span of 8 years Wang killed 45 women from 1995-2003. His first victim was murdered on January 22, 1995. His official record shows that he killed 45 total and raped 10 out of the 45, some even after they died. The demented man even went on to say that he never lost sleep or his appetite after his heinous actions. On July 14, 2003 he was arrested, after being found guilty he was sentenced to death and executed on November 17, 2005.

We understand the social climate and opportunity is not like it is in America's but did he really have to go on a killing spree out of frustration? Don't know what's up with Russia and serial killers but here's another one from the land of the sickle, and he goes by the name Alexander Pichushkin also known as the 'Chessboard Killer.' As a child Alex was rather normal until an incident where he fell off a swing and had the swing strike his forehead as it swung back. The incident caused him to become impulsive and hostile as the incident caused poor impulse regulation. After moving in with his grandfather and being encouraged to pursue intellectual goals he became fond of chess. After the passing of his grandfather he took a turn for the worst and began consuming mass quantities of alcohol and in 1992 committed his first murder as a student.

Pichushkin had a signature move where he would lure his victims in with the promises of vodka, mostly homeless men, beat them in the head from behind with a hammer and use the gaping hole in their heads as a seat for a bottle of vodka to be stuffed in. Creepy After being caught he stated that he originally wanted to kill 64 people, the same amount of squares on a chessboard, but later recanted the comment claiming that he would have continued killing people given the opportunity. Pichushkin also claims that he felt like God when in the midst of hacking away at his victims. After being apprehended he was sent to a psychiatric clinic for evaluation, they claim he was sane but suffered from antisocial personality disorder and narcissistic personality disorder. In June of 2006, Alex was caught, in October of 2007 he was convicted of 48 murders and 3 attempts of murder. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with for the first 15 years, solitary confinement. Finally, another American for this sadistic list!

Gary Ridgway, America's most prolific serial killer of all time we don't know who would want to hold this title but apparently it exists and Gary is the holder. Gary has murdered a numerous amount of women over the decades, from a confirmed date range beween 1982-1998 but could stretch to as late as 2001. Most of Ridgway's victims were women in vulnerable situations from prostitutes to underage runaways, Gary would take these women in and as soon as they got comfortable he would murder his victims by strangulation, some by hand and some by ligatures. After his first five victims were found in Washington state's Green River the media gave him the nickname, the 'Green River Killer.' After killing his victims he would spread the whereabouts of his victims across King County, a green, overgrown forest-like area, where he would return in order to have sexual intercourse with the deceased bodies.

On November 30, 2001, Ridgway was arrested while leaving his job site after DNA evidence linked him to the death of four women. While in custody Ridgway revealed where the bodies were dumped and claimed he killed way over the amount documented but was tried for 49 victims. Gary was spared the death penalty and is now serving life in prison without a chance of parole.

We think the death penalty could have been suitable for this a.hole. Anatoly comes from the land of Ukraine. After the death of his mother and being passed along to another family by his father, and eventually ending up in an orphanage, Anatoly resented his father for his actions. In a period of just a little over six years, Anatoly killed a total of 52 people from 1989-1996. It all started in 1989 where Anatoly was responsible for the deaths of a family of 10 people in a robbery gone wrong, from there on out he went on a killing spree.

From entire families to home invasions, beating women and children with hammers, to murdering an entire family with a shotgun including an 11 year old boy sleeping in a car. This guy was ruthless.

He would usually eliminate the evidence by arson, setting fire in the homes and to the victims he so mercilessly claimed. All these murders led to his nicknames 'The Beast of Ukraine,' 'The Terminator,' and 'Citizen O.' Anatoly was caught after a vicious manhunt, he made his mistake when he attempted to move in with some relatives and his stash of guns and artillery were found. The relatives kicked him out of the residence and an anonymous tip led to whereabouts.

Anatoly received life in prison after the Ukraine had just abolished the death penalty a year prior in 1995. In 2013 Anatoly died in prison of heart failure justice was served by the powers that be. The infamous Russian serial killer makes the list at number 8, Andrei Chikatilo also known as the 'Red Ripper,' the 'Butcher of Rostov,'and the 'Rostov Ripper.' From 1978-1990 Andrei was responsible for the sexual assault, mutilation, and murder of a minimum of 52 women and children. This slimeball's first murder was of a 9 year old girl, Yelena Zakotnova, whom he had lured to a house he secretly purchased, after failing to rape the girl due to erectile dysfunction, he choked and stabbed the girl three times in the abdomen causing him to ejaculate. He later threw her body into a nearby river where her body was found two days later. Majority of Andrei's victims were prostitutes and homeless women he would lure in with the promises of money and alcohol, after gaining their trust he would stab his victims to death beyond recognition after sexually assaulting them.

In September of 1984 Andrei was arrested after being observed by an undercover cop trying to lure when away from a local bus stop. After not being able to prove that he was the killer but being able to prove that he committed theft in a separate case opened by a former co-worker, Andrei served three months in prison and was released. On November 14, 1990 police put Andrei under surveillance after numerous amounts of suspicious behavior where he would approach young women and children, he was finally arrested by an undercover officer. After admitting to a total of 56 deaths, Chikatilo was convicted to the mutilation and murders of 53 women and children and sentenced to death.

He was executed in February of 1994. This particular psychopath is of the middle east variety. Abul Djabar originally from Afghanistan was suspected of murdering over 300 men and boys. Djabar's upbringing, past, and even date of birth isn't common knowledge and remains unknown. Unlike the majority of the demented people on this list Abul solely targeted males. Unfortunately, his reasoning and method is just as disturbing as the rest.

Abul would strangle his victims with a turban, while raping them. Abul was able to get away with this with at least 65 people, and possibly a ton more. Two innocent people were executed for Abul's sick crimes before he was brought to justice. Luckily Abul was arrested while in the midst of trying to kill his next victim.

He was tried and sentenced to death by hanging, the execution was publicly displayed on October 21, 1970. We got another one from China on the list, a Mr. Xinhai holds the title as China's most prolific serial killer ever, being held responsible for 67 murders and 23 rapes in only a span of four years from 1999-2003.

Xinhai had a prior history of crime in both 1988 and 1991 he was sent to labor camps for theft crimes. In 1996 he was sentenced to 5 years in prison for attempted rape but was released two years early in 1999.

In 1999 is where it all started, he would enter the victim's homes in the middle of night and hack entire families to pieces with axes, hammers, and shovels. This brutal way of killing led to his media given nickname, the 'Monster Killer.' He would get away by wearing brand new clothes and large shoes at each home invasion. In 2002, Yang killed a father, a 6 year old girl, and raped the pregnant mother who survived the attack but had severe head injuries.

Xinhai was caught after acting extremely suspicious during a routine traffic stop, after officers were informed that he was wanted for murder in four provinces he was taken in. DNA evidence from several crime scenes matched his and Yang confessed to 65 of the murders but was convicted to a total of 67. He was sentenced to death and executed by shooting on February 14, 2004. India makes the list at number five with this serial killer doing most of his damage in the late 70s. This guy holds the title of India's most prolific serial killer in history.

Kampatimar Shankariya born in 1952 was responsible for the deaths of at least 70 innocent people. The crazy thing is, Kampatimar did all of his murders in a span of only a year plus, from 1977-1978. Kampatimar wasn't too methodical with murdering method as well, he would hammer his victims to death with repeated blows to the head. His intentions are also very skewed and his background is unknown to the general public. Kampatimar was caught and sentenced to death by hanging. These were last words before being executed, 'I have murdered in vain Nobody should become like me.'

We got another Brazilian on the list this one's a little different though. Pedro Rodrigues Filho was born on a farm with head injuries due to his father striking his mother during pregnancy. At the age of 14 he committed his first murder by killing the vice-Mayor of of Alfenas, Minas Gerais, all because they fired his father from a job as a school guard over theft.

While on the run he met a woman named Maria Aparecida Olympia who ended up being killed by some gang members. In search of her killer Pedro tortured and murdered several people in attempt to find out who killed Maria. By the age of 18 he had racked up 10 bodies to his murder count. In a local prison Pedro killed his own father, cut out a piece of heart, chewed it, then spit it out. His father had killed his mother with a machete.

In May of 1973, Pedro was arrested and while incarcerated killed 47 other inmates. Pedro claimed he killed over 100 victims but was tried for 71 and sentenced to 128 years in prison. Due to the crimes he committed in prison, his sentence was bumped up to 400 years.

Unfortunately after 34 years he was released April 24, 2007, he traveled to Brazil's northeast where he was arrested for inciting a riot and other crimes. This serial killer spread his killing spree over the span of two different South American countries, both Colombia and Ecuador.

Daniel Camargo is responsible for the deaths of 72 to a possible 150 young girls. Daniel began his crime spree with petty theft but was arrested and sentenced to 8 years in prison after raping five young women using sodium based sleeping pills.

He and his female accomplice Esperanza would lure young girls into their apartment where he would commit his crimes. He served his full sentence and was yet to kill a single victim. After being deported from Brazil for being undocumented he returned to Colombia where he committed his first rape and murder. In 1977 he was arrested and sentenced to 25 years for the crime, in 1984 he escaped prison via a boat and the media and police claimed that he was lost at sea or ate by sharks.

Unfortunately, Daniel drifted to Ecuador where he continued raping and killing via strangulation, sometimes stabbing his victims if they would resist. Daniel was caught when two officers were doing a routine patrol and noticed him acting strangely. He was caught with a bag containing bloody clothes and the clitoris of his of his last victim he killed just minutes ago. In 1989 Camargo was sentenced to only 16 years, Colombia's maximum amount sentence at that time.

Camargo had claimed to convert to Christianity but was killed in jail. We think Colombia needs to change their maximum sentencing laws. The number one spot goes to another Colombian serial killing rapist by the name of Luis Garavito also known as 'La Bestia' or 'The Beast.'

Garavito was also a fan of murdering children. The majority of his victims ranged from age 8-16 and were street children living in terrible conditions. Luis would gain their trust by offering them gifts or small amounts of money. He then would walk with them to a remote location where they would get exhausted from walking.

That's where he would strike, he would rape, slit their throats, and dismember their bodies. The majority of the bodies found showed signs of extensive torture from the perverted psychopath. On April 22, 1999 he was captured and confessed to the murders of 140 children, but was tried for 172. He was found guilty on 139 counts which is a total of 1,853 years and 9 days, but Colombia's maximum sentence is only 40 years.

Also since he helped authorities find some of the bodies, his sentence was reduced to 22 years. He's also eligible for early release for good behavior Seriously Colombia needs to adjust some laws, especially since they made the top three on the list.
